The Canadian Catholic Organization for Development and Peace (CCODP) is the official international development agency of the Canadian Catholic Church. It was launched in 1967 by the Canadian Conference of Catholic Bishops as a centennial project in order to respond to the growing needs of our Christian sisters and brothers in developing countries around the world. CCODP operates its mandate upon a two-prong approach; an education (awareness) campaign in the Fall, and a fundraising (Share Lent) campaign in the Spring. In St. Mark's Parish, Development & Peace (D&P) has a core group of very devoted and creative people who, each year, devise ways of making of the two D&P campaigns very visible and effective. They are supported by a very large number of volunteers who take responsibility for the various activities. We aim to continue our effective campaigning within the Parish community. Our goal is to expand outside the doors of the Church -- to make everyone in Aylmer Sector aware of the realities of the Developing World and incite them to commit money and political will to help change unjust and archaic structures.
