Liturgy
The word liturgy literally means
the work of the people. Liturgy is the way
we organize our praise and worship to God, whereby we come together to
describe our nature as faithful people. We also use the word to describe the main form
of worship for the Celebration of the Holy Eucharist.
Liturgy Committee
The Liturgy Committee is made up of a number of parishioners from our
parish who, together with the pastor, take care of and oversee everything
that relates to the liturgical life of St. Mark Parish...

Ushers
assist
the assembly
by greeting parishioners
and welcoming other persons who gather with us. Ushers seat late
arrivals, tend to the comfort of the community, keep order, take
up the collection and direct the Communion procession. Any parishioner over the age of
sixteen may be trained to be an usher. Ministers of
Hospitality help to plan and carry out various projects such as the
annual auction and other events that build and strengthen our parish family.
If you would like to serve as an usher or a minister of hospitality, please contact:
André Sirois.
Sacristans/Decor
Sacristans are responsible for the care of all of the vessels, vestments, books, linens, candles and other supplies that are used in our parish liturgies.
Decor volunteers are responsible for the floral arrangements and decorating the church for special feasts and seasons, especially the Advent and Christmas seasons, and the Lent and Easter seasons.
A little artistic flair is helpful, but an interest and willingness to work
with others is most important. If you wish to become involved, contact: Anna Haakman.
Children's Liturgy
of the Word At the beginning of the 11AM Mass on Sundays, the
younger children (pre-First Communion age) are invited to go with their
catechists to the Genesis and Resource rooms in the rectory.
There, adult facilitators (who rotate on a weekly basis) guide the children in prayer and discussion
based on the Scripture readings. Children's Liturgy of the Word gives an
opportunity for children to hear and reflect on God's Word in
language they can understand.
The children return at the Offertory of the Mass.

Song Leaders /
Choir Members Professional experience not required; you just have
to love to sing and be able to blend with various types of voices. To join and
rehearse with us, contact:
Marina Moore or Florence LeGuerrier (for Mass, Sat 7PM); Parish Office (for
Mass, Sun 9AM) or Maria MacNaughton (for Mass, Sun 11AM). Contact Marina Moore to book the Senior Choir

Musicians
Guitarists, piano/organ players and instrumentalists of all types (strings, brass,
woodwinds, percussion) are encouraged to contribute their talent at various
masses. We encourage young people to participate! Form your own youth choir
and sing for various liturgies throughout the year. To participate, contact
Parish Office.
Faith
Formation
Our faith is shaped by many factors,
including our relationships with other people, how we experience God acting
in our lives, the decisions we make and the consequences of those
decisions. These factors are all necessary, interrelated and
intertwined. Faith Formation
provides opportunities for people to grow and mature in faith.
Each of us can grow in faith by learning new things about our beliefs, by becoming closer to God through them and by making them the guiding principles by which we live.
Through Faith Formation, we strive to provide parishioners with correct information about issues that confront us today
by offering opportunities to have
serious discussions guided by faith,
praying together for guidance and wisdom, and
by being public witnesses to Catholic belief and behaviour.

Service / Outreach
Guided by the values
and social teachings of the Church, we actively seek to provide service
to those in need, with special concern for the poor, the sick, the
elderly, and the disadvantaged. We strongly support our service &
outreach ministry to the poor and the vulnerable through direct service,
allocation of resources, education, liturgy, and public advocacy.
Besides providing services that are delivered by parishioners and
use parish resources, we also assist by referring people-in-need to
those community-based resources whenever appropriate.
