SUNDAY MISSALS FOR THE NEXT LITURGICAL YEAR (2007) The new Liturgical Year will be commencing on the first of Sunday of Advent. The new missals have arrived and are on the tables at both entrances of the church. They are only $4.00 each.

WORLD MISSION SUNDAY: Today worldwide the Catholic Church celebrates “World Mission Sunday.” All over the world, baptized people are reminded that they are witnesses to Jesus Christ. They are reminded that their basic vocation is to follow the mission of Jesus Christ: LOVE & GIVE WITNESS TO CHRIST. Yes, the Catholic Church is essentially a missionary in character. And “love is the soul of its Mission.” (Pope Benedict XVI) World Mission Sunday is a unique event! It is a universal day of solidarity when rich and poor from every continent openly witness to their faith in Jesus Christ and support the missionaries and the mission work through their prayers and financial support.

RELIGIOUS EDUCATION: Parents are requested to register their children aged 5 to 12 for Sunday classes which will be held on every Sunday in the Church between 10.00 a.m. to 11.00 a.m. Classes will commence on the 22nd of October. For the registration kindly contact Paula Nason - Wiegand at (819) 684-1325 or the parish office at (819) 684-6926.

ALL SOULS’ DAY MASS: On Thursday, November the 2nd we will celebrate the Feast of All Souls. We will have a Mass at 7:00 p.m. for all our dear and near ones who have gone before us to the heavenly Kingdom. However, during the Eucharistic celebration, special mention will be made of the persons who have been buried from St. Mark’s during the past year. In addition to calling forth their names (reminiscent of calling forth the name at Baptism) we will light a candle from the Easter Candle for each of them. If you have someone close to you who died this past year but was buried elsewhere we will name that person too. Please let the office know (819-684-6926)

DEVELOPMENT & PEACE: Please be advised that the “Action Letter” signed by St. Mark’s parishioners has been delivered to the Diocesan office in Hull. Thank you all for your participation. We delivered on your behalf a total of 269 signatures. If you have not already done so, please become part of the solution and sign your copy of the “Action Letter”. Extra copies are available at the Church entrances. LIFE BEFORE PROFIT – Thank you.

GET-TOGETHER FOR LEADERS IN ENGLISH PARISHES: SATURDAY November 4, 2006. The English Zone Pastoral Council has opted for a new formula. Under the present formula, a few representatives from the English parishes meet six or seven times a year to discuss issues that pertain to our English parishes. That formula has run its course. Now the plan is to have those in leadership positions in our English parishes meet twice a year. This will be more representative and it may help all those in leadership positions “to play from the same book”. This is especially important if we continue to work with the document of our bishop: Discovering Jesus Christ: The Path to Freedom. So PPC members, Wardens, members of parish committees, all parish ministries, interested parishioners! We count on you!
